Steri-write utilizes powerful UV-C germicidal LED light rays to kill pathogens causing bacterial and viral infections. As each writing instrument cycles through the sanitizing chamber, it is exposed to the exact amount of UV irradiance necessary for an effective kill rate. It is well documented in the scientific literature that UV germicidal light rays are highly effective in killing 99% of pathogens attributed to bacterial and viral infections.

It is well established that the incidence of HAI (hospital acquired infections) and CAI (community acquired infections) have significantly increased in the past decade. As a physician and surgeon, Dr. Wind, observed the need for a better way to reduce the spread of infectious diseases in the hospital/medical environment. This need to contain the spread of viruses and bacteria is also applicable to other public places such as banks, department stores, and restaurants.
Steri-Write has the potential to reduce the spread of communicable diseases from the common cold to more serious infections that are caused by the sharing of hand-held writing devices.
The pen return chamber is a slot to return a used pen or stylus.
The conveyor system advances pens through the sanitization chamber to assure a clean pen is always available for dispensing.
The UV-C germicidal LEDs provide sanitization inside the enclosed sanitizing chamber.
The internal timing device and circuit board provide technical specifications assuring each pen has received the appropriate amount of UV irradiance exposure for sanitzation before a clean pen is dispensed.
The infrared sensor is designed to dispense a sanitized pen to the end user on demand in a “touchless” method.
The LED status signaling icons offer visual confirmation that the sanitization process is complete.
The illuminated pen dispensation chamber provides a sanitized pen to the end user.
The receiving cradle holds the requested dispensed clean pen.
Yes, Steri-Write has been tested by an independent lab. The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA laboratory tested Steri-Write and found it to be 99.9% effective at eradicating those common bacteria and viruses found on shared writing instruments. The results were published in AJIC in January 2020 and are available here. Although Steri-Write has not been specifically tested against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), there is evidence that suggests germicidal UV-C radiation is effective for the inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 and other microbial pathogens.
